Our students and Ms. Shawell assembled a prayer quilt from all of the memory squares that were made the first week of school. It is made up of all of the beautiful memories our students shared about Fr. Mike and serves as a reminder for us to PRAY ALWAYS. We celebrated Grandparent and Special Persons Day this week. We were glad to have so many loved ones join us for Mass, explore our classrooms and join us for a brief reception.

The Hoffman-Schaumburg Knights of Columbus are holding their annual drive to help people with Intellectual Disabilities in our local area this September 15 - 17. The Knights will be accepting donations in the narthex after Masses. Our Knights thank you for your support!

The Scouts of Troops 399B and 399G spent the evening sorting, counting and packaging all of the school supplies collected at SS Matthew and Hubert Churches. Thanks to your generosity we delivered 40 cartons of supplies to the Grant-A-Wish Children and Family Center. Hundreds of folders, a thousand crayons, gallons of glue!!! The Troops are excited to be part of this first combined activity between St. Matthew and St. Hubert Churches.

Children’s Ministry of Initiation (CMI) is a process for children 7 years of age or older who may need to receive  sacraments other than at the  designated grade levels. Immediate preparations are now underway for our CMI sessions to begin in October.

Ministers of Care bring the Eucharist to Catholics from all walks of life who are unable to participate in the  Eucharistic Liturgy at their parishes. The Archdiocese conducts periodic training to help insure those called to Ministry are educated in the spirituality, theology, and the rites of Pastoral Care of the Sick. Aloha from our second graders, who made the most of the warm weather around the holiday weekend. Our sixth graders created Reading Road Maps in Junior High Literature this week. They reflected on their life-long reading journey, the books that left a lasting impression, and then shared their roadmaps with the class. An invitation to Track-A-Thon.

MEN4JESUS is an opportunity for the men from local Catholic parishes to get together to build a faith-filled brotherhood and reflect upon and  improve our current spirit lives. During this second season of the program, we will focus on improving our prayer life, gaining a better understanding of scripture, learning new insights about the special seasons of the Church, and gathering strength from the Holy Spirit. We gather once a month in the Parish Ministry Center at St. Hubert Church on Saturday mornings from 7:30 to 9:00am for a total of seven times.
