This year 14 St. Hubert students competed in the National History Day Competition. The theme of this year's contest was "Turning Points in History." We had a variety of documentaries and exhibits ranging from historic events like the Battle of Midway to historical topics like Expressionist Art. Our five finalists will be at the next round at Chicago History Museum on March 9th. Shaping tomorrow's leaders! We celebrated vocations during Catholic Schools Week. Our hallways were filled with the incredible sights of our students dressed as future doctors, scientists, teachers, priests, and more! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing parents, clergy, and community members who took the time to join us for National Read Out Loud Day. Our fourth graders had a special guest – our Mayor! Thank you for sharing your love of learning by reading to our students!

To Be Joyful Again, a non-denominational support group for those who have lost a spouse or intended life partner, meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month at 7 PM at Holy Family Parish, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness. Come get the support you need in this difficult time. All are welcome.

We will offer Stations of the Cross on Fridays in Lent. The Stations will be held at 7 PM alternating between St. Hubert and St. Matthew Church. Open this article for the complete schedule.

Since the merger of these two parishes and the tragic loss of Fr. Mike Scherschel in August, we have endeavored to provide good and helpful communication of information about what is happening at our parish. I am going to take this opportunity to address some of the rumors that have been heard by our Unification Committee members.

Join our faith community in a transformative Lenten journey through CRS Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, to meet people in Uganda, El Salvador and Indonesia who are working hard to overcome the challenges of hunger and the impact of climate change. Pick up a CRSice Bowl in the Church vestibule or narthex this weekend or on Ash Wednesday, February 14.

We are thrilled to announce our school-wide service project that benefits those in need and raises funds for St. Hubert School! Look for labeled boxes in the St. Hubert and St. Matthew Parish Ministry Centers Collection will continue through March 16.

The St. Hubert Domestic Violence Outreach Ministry and St. Matthew Peace and Justice Ministry continue to raise awareness on this important issue.

St. Matthew Church is in need of some volunteers to Lector at the 7 AM Mass. Readers assist at Mass by proclaiming the sacred scriptures. At each Mass, they help to make the Word of God present to us in this time and place.
