A perspective on service from one of our parishioners
As I think about my involvement in some parish ministries, I reflect on what the future holds for them. As one of the chairs of the Funeral Luncheon Ministry, I am blessed to be surrounded by a remarkable crew of workers and food connoisseurs.
So many of our helpers are up in age, many have moved, and many have left us to be home with our God. Although we don't have as many luncheons as in the past, I wonder who will step up to carry on this ministry of 30+ years first spearheaded by Rose Mullin.
I reflect on this after experiencing the Taste of
St. Hubert. What an amazing celebration of our ethnicities beginning with Mass and songs of our heritages, followed by such a varied assortment of foods and desserts, many homemade by parishioners, and entertainment. It's hard to believe this tradition started 18 years ago and many of the volunteers worked at it since its inception. Similar to almost all the other ministries the Stewards core committee has few members. We'd love fresh ideas.
In addition to the Taste, the Stewards have in the past hosted other family based activities. We have many avenues we'd like to pursue but not enough members to get them off the ground. What these ministries experience are the same for just about every ministry in the parish and every event sponsored by the school and scouts: volunteers. With many things occupying our time these days, I can assure you that many ministries would love you to help even on a one event basis. I ask you to think about the talents you might have to share, and pray to see if you could bring them to one of our many ministries. Thank you for your consideration.
May God's blessings be with you!
