July 15, 2022When Are AMI Sponsors Companions Needed?
St. Hubert Church asks sponsors to attend right from the start of OCIA (RCIA). In the early sessions, sponsors help to provide a welcoming atmosphere to the newcomers. Many recent AMI participants say that friendly hospitality of the St. Hubert community was an important factor in their decision to join the Church. After about 8 weeks, AMI participants who wish to seriously explore membership in the Catholic faith are paired with a parish sponsor. A candidate may ask you to serve as his/her sponsor or the AMI team might match you with a candidate or catechumen who needs a sponsor.
